What is the CIPM Program?

The Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM®) Program develops skills in effective investment performance (return and risk) evaluation, manager selection, and investment reporting based on the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) standards.

The CIPM Program consists of a two-level, self-study curriculum. Exams are offered every March and September at over 500 test centers in 88 countries.

How to become a CIPM designation holder.

  1. Enroll in the program by registering for the Level I exam.
    There are no entrance requirements.
  2. Successfully complete the Level I and Level II exams.
    Exams are offered during the months of March and September.
  3. 3 Become a CFA Institute regular member.
  4. Maintain your Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE).

  • Have an international passport.
  • Live in a participating country.
  • Be prepared to take the exams in English.

*Those who have passed the Level III CFA exam can enter and complete the CIPM Program directly at Level II.
